A young couple, Della and Jim, were poor but deeply in love. Della had no money to buy a Christmas present for Jim. She went so far as to sell her beautiful long hair to buy a chain for his prized watch. Meanwhile, Jim sold his watch, only to find that Della had bought a chain for it.
