La mañana después del juramento, Tokio ya no parecía la misma. Caminando hacia la escuela, cada paso revelaba cambios sutiles y alarmantes: postes de luz que parpadeaban al ritmo de mi respiración, charcos que reflejaban cielos desconocidos, y en los rincones, voces inaudibles que murmuraban mi nombre. Me esforzaba por parecer normal ante los demás, pero dentro del grupo, sabíamos que la fusión de los mundos estaba acelerándose. When we arrived, the station was deserted, but the air was thick, charged with electricity and broken promises. Fue entonces cuando recordé las palabras de la abuela de Kumi: “El miedo puede ser la llave o la cadena.” Tomé aire, cerré los ojos y me concentré en la imagen de todos nosotros juntos, en el círculo de confianza. Kumi squeezed my hand and the group stepped forward. From the portal emerged a strange creature: it seemed made of shadow and mist, with silver eyes that shone like broken moons. It roared in silence, and its very presence made memories of pain and loneliness rise in our minds. Then I remembered Kumi’s grandmother’s words: “Fear can be the key or the chain.” I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and focused on the image of all of us together, in our circle of trust. When I opened them, the creature staggered, weakened by our unity. One by one, the others raised their voices, and the creature fell back, dissolved by the light of our alliance. We had passed our first trial.

Tras la batalla, el portal se cerró y una pequeña piedra azul quedó en el suelo. Lena la recogió y, en cuanto la sostuvo, los símbolos de su cuaderno empezaron a brillar. “Es una llave,” murmuró, “una de las siete necesarias para llegar hasta el Rey Demonio.” De regreso a casa, la ciudad parecía aún más extraña, pero ya no estábamos solos, y el miedo ahora tenía un nuevo rival: la esperanza compartida. Sabíamos que, a partir de ese día, la verdadera aventura solo acababa de comenzar.

Looking back, that day was when our real adventure truly began.
