Historia (CEFR: B1 Español)
La profesora asigna a Kumi el asiento junto a la ventana, justo delante de Najimi y a mi diagonal. El lugar parece preparado para los protagonistas de una historia, donde el mundo exterior y la clase se encuentran en un delicado equilibrio de luz y sombra. Mientras se sienta, Kumi mira un instante hacia fuera, como si buscara fuerzas en el paisaje del patio.

The teacher assigns Kumi the seat by the window, right in front of Najimi and diagonally in front of me. The spot feels like it was made for the protagonist of a story—a place where the outside world and the class meet in a delicate balance of light and shadow. As she sits down, Kumi glances outside, as if looking for strength in the view of the schoolyard.

선생님은 쿠미에게 창가 자리를 배정했다. 그곳은 나지미 앞, 내 바로 대각선 자리에 있었다. 마치 이야기의 주인공을 위해 준비된 듯한 자리—교실과 바깥세상이 빛과 그림자 속에서 만나는 특별한 공간이다. 쿠미는 자리에 앉으면서 잠시 창밖을 바라보며, 마치 거기서 용기를 찾으려는 듯 보였다.
La clase intenta volver a la normalidad, pero las miradas furtivas hacia Kumi no cesan. Algunos cuchichean, otros fingen no estar interesados. Komehyo, con su habitual descaro, escribe un pequeño mensaje en una hoja y me lo pasa por debajo de la mesa: “¿Crees que sabe hacer magia? ¿O será una espía?”

授業が始まるが、クミへのちらちらとした視線は止まらない。誰かがひそひそ話し、興味のないふりをする子もいる。コメヒョはお決まりの調子で、紙切れに「魔法とか使えそう？それともスパイかな？」と書いて、こっそり僕に渡してきた。

The class tries to return to normal, but the secret glances at Kumi don’t stop. Some whisper, others pretend not to care. Komehyo, as usual, scribbles a note: “Do you think she can do magic? Or is she a spy?” and passes it to me under the desk.

Intento reprimir una sonrisa, pero Najimi ya me ha pillado. Me mira divertida, como si adivinara cada palabra de la nota. No puedo evitar sentir una mezcla de nerviosismo y curiosidad. ¿Qué pensará Kumi de nosotros? ¿Se sentirá sola, emocionada, o ambas cosas a la vez?

I try to suppress a smile, but Najimi has already noticed. She looks at me with amusement, as if she can guess exactly what’s written on the note. I can’t help but feel a mix of nerves and curiosity. What must Kumi think of us? Does she feel lonely, excited, or maybe both at once?

La mañana avanza despacio. Kumi escucha atentamente, toma notas impecables y apenas habla, pero en su expresión se adivina una concentración tranquila, como si no quisiera perderse ningún detalle de este nuevo mundo.

오전 시간은 천천히 흘러간다. 쿠미는 한마디도 허투루 넘기지 않고, 꼼꼼하게 필기를 하며 말을 거의 하지 않는다. 하지만 그 표정에는 조용한 집중력이 느껴져, 이 새로운 세계의 모든 것을 놓치고 싶지 않은 듯했다.
En el descanso, algunos compañeros se acercan para saludarla. Najimi, siempre amable, le sonríe y le ofrece ayuda si necesita algo. Komehyo, fiel a su estilo, la bombardea con preguntas sobre su lugar de origen y sus “poderes ocultos”. Kumi sonríe apenas, agradecida pero cautelosa, midiendo cada palabra antes de responder.

休み時間になると、何人かのクラスメートがクミのところへ挨拶しに行った。ナジミは優しく微笑み、「困ったことがあったら何でも言ってね」と声をかける。コメヒョは相変わらず、「出身地はどこ？特技とか、超能力は？」と矢継ぎ早に質問を投げかける。クミは少しだけ微笑み、慎重に、でも感謝の気持ちを込めてひとつひとつ答えていく。

At break time, some classmates go over to greet Kumi. Najimi, always kind, smiles and offers to help if she needs anything. Komehyo, as always, bombards her with questions about where she’s from and her “hidden powers.” Kumi gives a small smile, answering each question carefully, grateful but cautious.
