El timbre del recreo suena y la tensión de la clase se deshace como una nube ligera. Los estudiantes se levantan de sus asientos, algunos con la prisa de los que planean una gran aventura y otros, como yo, con la calma de quien disfruta observar el bullicio desde la orilla. Najimi se acerca y apoya el codo en mi mesa. Sus ojos brillan de energía.

休み時間のチャイムが鳴ると、教室にあった緊張感がふわりと消えていく。生徒たちは一斉に立ち上がり、何か大きな冒険を始めるかのように急ぐ者もいれば、僕のように周囲の賑わいを眺めながらゆっくりとした動きの者もいる。ナジミが僕のところへ来て、机に肘をついた。彼女の目は活力に満ちて輝いている。

The recess bell rings, and the tension in the classroom dissolves like a light cloud. Students get up from their seats—some rush off as if planning a great adventure, while others, like me, enjoy simply watching the bustle from the sidelines. Najimi comes over and leans her elbow on my desk. Her eyes sparkle with energy.

Le sonrío y asiento, recogiendo mis bolígrafos con lentitud. Por la ventana se ve cómo la lluvia ha dejado charcos en el patio, reflejando el gris del cielo. Mientras caminamos hacia la puerta, el murmullo de la clase se mezcla con el golpeteo de la lluvia contra los cristales, y por un instante siento que el mundo fuera de aquí es solo un rumor lejano.

En el pasillo, el aire está impregnado del aroma a tiza y de las voces entrecruzadas de distintos cursos. Unos estudiantes repasan para un examen apoyados contra las taquillas, otros comparten dulces a escondidas. Frente a la sala del club de ciencias hay un pequeño grupo reunido; entre ellos reconozco la silueta desgarbada de Komehyo, gesticulando con entusiasmo.

廊下に出ると、チョークの粉と色々なクラスの話し声が混ざった空気が広がっていた。ロッカーにもたれてテスト勉強をしている生徒、こっそりお菓子を分け合う子たちもいる。科学部の前には小さな人だかりができていて、その中に、やたらと身振り手振りが大きいコメヒョの姿があった。

In the hallway, the air is filled with chalk dust and the overlapping voices of different classes. Some students are cramming for a test, leaning against the lockers, while others sneakily share sweets. In front of the science club room, a small crowd has gathered; among them, I spot Komehyo’s lanky figure, gesticulating enthusiastically.

복도에 나오니 분필가루와 여러 반의 목소리가 섞인 공기가 감돈다. 로커에 기대어 시험 공부를 하는 학생, 몰래 과자를 나누는 친구들도 있다. 과학부실 앞에는 작은 무리가 모여 있고, 그 틈에서 팔을 크게 휘두르며 떠드는 코메효의 모습이 눈에 띈다.
—¡Ak! ¡Najimi! ¡Vengan, esto va a ser legendario! —grita Komehyo al vernos, atrayendo la atención de todos. Algunos estudiantes se ríen; otros, acostumbrados a sus ocurrencias, simplemente niegan con la cabeza. Pero yo no puedo evitar sentir curiosidad por lo que está a punto de suceder.
