Story (English - CEFR C2)
The morning of the festival, the air buzzed with excitement. Our clubroom—transformed into the “Mystery House”—was unrecognizable: fake cobwebs draped every corner, the scent of cheap incense mingled with nervous sweat, and the props looked, for once, genuinely impressive.

Mitsuki darted around with a checklist, barking last-minute instructions. Najimi adjusted the clues, muttering punchlines to herself. Haru stood guard by the entrance, his usual deadpan concealing a rare flicker of pride. Komehyo double-checked the sound effects with the focus of a mad scientist.

Mitsuki corría de un lado a otro con una lista, gritando instrucciones de último minuto. Najimi ajustaba las pistas, murmurando chistes para sí misma. Haru custodiaba la entrada, su impasibilidad habitual ocultando un destello raro de orgullo. Komehyo revisaba los efectos de sonido con la concentración de un científico loco.
Kumi moved quietly through it all, adjusting costumes, smoothing ruffled nerves with a smile that was no longer just for others, but for herself too. Sora, uncharacteristically animated, snapped a group photo just as we gathered for a final huddle.

Our “Mystery House” was a hit. Students screamed, teachers jumped, and for every solved puzzle, there was another burst of laughter. The six of us—seven, counting Sora—worked in seamless, joyful chaos.

For a few hours, nothing else mattered—not secrets, not guilt, not the shadows that lingered just out of sight. We were just a club, together, alive. I think all of us realized, in those moments, what we’d nearly lost—and what we still had.
