Story (English - CEFR C2)
It happened on a Wednesday, the kind of gray, heavy day when even the lights in the clubroom seemed dimmer. I arrived to find Mitsuki and Najimi in the middle of a shouting match, voices raw and brittle.

Ocurrió un miércoles, uno de esos días grises y pesados en los que incluso las luces del club parecían más tenues. Llegué y encontré a Mitsuki y Najimi en medio de una discusión a gritos, las voces ásperas y frágiles.
“Why can’t you just admit what you did?” Mitsuki demanded, fists clenched at her sides. Najimi’s reply was a choked whisper: “I’m sorry, I never meant to—” “Sorry isn’t enough!” Mitsuki snapped. “You ruined everything for my sister, and you just pretend nothing happened?”

ナジミはかすれた声で答える。「ごめん、本当にそんなつもりじゃ……」
「ごめんじゃ足りないよ！」ミツキが強く言い返す。「お姉ちゃんのこと全部めちゃくちゃにして、何事もなかったみたいな顔して！」

Silence fell as Komehyo slammed his book shut. “Enough,” he said, his voice colder than I’d ever heard. Haru watched from the doorway, unreadable. Kumi flinched at the noise, shrinking back into her chair.

Cayó el silencio cuando Komehyo cerró su libro de golpe. “Ya basta”, dijo, la voz más fría de lo que jamás le había oído. Haru miraba desde la puerta, inescrutable. Kumi se estremeció ante el ruido, encogiéndose en su silla.
For a moment, nobody moved. The tension was suffocating. I opened my mouth, desperate to say something—anything—to pull us back together.

“Stop!” I shouted, louder than I meant to. “We can’t just tear each other apart. We’re supposed to be friends. Whatever’s happened—whatever you’re all hiding—I want to understand. But not like this. Please.”

“¡Basta!” grité, más fuerte de lo que pretendía. “No podemos destrozarnos así. Se supone que somos amigos. Pase lo que pase—sea lo que sea que estén ocultando—quiero entender. Pero no así. Por favor.”
No one answered. For the first time, I saw how fragile we all were—how close we stood to losing everything. But I wouldn’t let it happen. I couldn’t. Not when we’d come this far together.
