Story (English - CEFR C2)
The following days felt different, even if nobody said so out loud. Haru started showing up regularly, always the first to arrive and the last to leave. He didn’t join in our games or discussions; he just watched, arms folded, leaning against the wall. His silence filled the room in a new way, pressing in at the edges of our laughter.

Los días siguientes se sentían diferentes, aunque nadie lo dijera en voz alta. Haru empezó a presentarse siempre, el primero en llegar y el último en irse. No participaba en nuestros juegos o charlas; solo observaba, con los brazos cruzados, apoyado en la pared. Su silencio llenaba la sala de una forma nueva, presionando los bordes de nuestras risas.
Mitsuki took it as a challenge. Every afternoon, she would try to drag Haru into a contest—speed riddles, rock-paper-scissors, even a who-can-hold-their-breath-the-longest match. Haru almost never responded, except for a faint, ironic smile that flickered across his lips before vanishing.

Najimi, unfazed as ever, simply included Haru in everything by default. She’d assign him to teams, ask for his opinion, hand him half her snacks—rarely waiting for a response. Komehyo mostly ignored Haru, except for the occasional sharp glance when he thought nobody was watching.

As for me, I couldn’t decide whether I was curious, wary, or simply glad for the distraction. Sometimes, when our laughter got too loud, I’d notice Haru’s expression tighten for a split second before returning to blank calm. Other times, I’d catch him glancing at the clubroom window, as if searching for something outside.

En cuanto a mí, no sabía si sentía curiosidad, cautela o simplemente agradecimiento por la distracción. A veces, cuando nuestras risas se volvían demasiado fuertes, notaba que la expresión de Haru se tensaba por un instante antes de volver a su calma habitual. En otras ocasiones, lo sorprendía mirando por la ventana del club, como si buscara algo afuera.
One evening, as we were leaving, Haru lingered behind for a moment. I turned back to find him still standing in the middle of the room, staring at the chalkboard with an unreadable look. I almost asked if he was okay, but thought better of it. Whatever brought Haru here, I had a feeling it was a story none of us knew yet.
