Story (CEFR: B1 English)
That night, I couldn’t sleep. The second mystery note was on my nightstand, and my mind was racing with questions. Who was behind the game? What kind of puzzle would tomorrow bring? I heard a soft knock at my door.

Esa noche, no podía dormir. La segunda nota misteriosa estaba en mi mesita de noche, y mi mente no paraba de preguntarse cosas. ¿Quién estaba detrás del juego? ¿Qué tipo de acertijo traería el día siguiente? Oí un suave golpe en la puerta.
Najimi poked her head in. “Ak! Are you awake? I can’t stop thinking about the secret game!”
I sat up. “Me too. Where’s Komehyo?”
“Already in the kitchen,” Najimi said. “He’s making tea and drawing diagrams.”

ナジミが顔をのぞかせる。「アク！起きてる？私、秘密のゲームのこと考えてたら眠れないよ！」
僕も起き上がった。「僕もだ。コメヒョは？」
「もうキッチンにいるよ」とナジミ。「お茶をいれて、図を描いてる」

Najimi asomó la cabeza. “¡Ak! ¿Estás despierto? ¡No puedo dejar de pensar en el juego secreto!”
Me senté. “Yo tampoco. ¿Dónde está Komehyo?”
“Ya está en la cocina,” dijo Najimi. “Está haciendo té y dibujando diagramas.”
We crept to the kitchen, where Komehyo had spread papers all over the table. “Statistical analysis,” he said without looking up. “We have two data points. If the pattern continues, there will be another clue tomorrow.”
Najimi poured tea. “What if the clues get harder? Or what if it’s… a ghost?”
Komehyo adjusted his glasses. “Ghosts don’t fold paper cranes. I checked.”

僕たちはそっとキッチンへ。コメヒョはテーブルいっぱいに紙を広げていた。「統計分析だ」と顔も上げずに言う。「今のところデータポイントは二つ。パターンが続けば、明日もまたヒントがあるはず」
ナジミがお茶を注ぐ。「でも、もしどんどん難しくなったら？それか…幽霊だったらどうしよう」
コメヒョは眼鏡を直した。「幽霊は折り鶴を作らないよ。ちゃんと調べたから」

Fuimos de puntillas a la cocina, donde Komehyo había esparcido papeles por toda la mesa. “Análisis estadístico,” dijo sin mirar. “Tenemos dos datos. Si el patrón sigue, habrá otra pista mañana.”
Najimi sirvió el té. “¿Y si las pistas se vuelven más difíciles? ¿O si es… un fantasma?”
Komehyo se acomodó las gafas. “Los fantasmas no doblan grullas de papel. Lo comprobé.”
We spent half the night guessing possibilities—secret societies, hidden treasure, a prank by a clever neighbor. Najimi suggested it might be a “parallel universe recruitment letter.” I laughed, but deep down, the idea was exciting.

Pasamos media noche adivinando posibilidades—sociedades secretas, tesoros escondidos, una broma de un vecino ingenioso. Najimi sugirió que podría ser “una carta de reclutamiento de un universo paralelo.” Me reí, pero en el fondo, la idea era emocionante.
Finally, we agreed to keep searching for clues, no matter how strange things got. “Tomorrow,” I said, “let’s solve the next part—together.”
Najimi and Komehyo nodded, determination shining in their eyes. For the first time, I felt like Puzzle House belonged to all three of us.
