Story (CEFR: B1 English)
After breakfast, Najimi announced, “Today is Official Mismatched Socks Day! Whoever has the best pair gets to choose the movie for tonight!”
Komehyo looked confused. “But… I only have matching socks.”
Najimi grinned, waving two completely different socks in the air—one with yellow ducks, the other with tiny spaceships.

朝ごはんの後、ナジミが宣言した。「今日は公式バラバラ靴下デー！一番面白い組み合わせの人が、今夜観る映画を決めていい！」
コメヒョは戸惑った顔。「でも…僕の靴下は全部揃ってるよ」
ナジミは自信満々で全く違う靴下を振る。一つは黄色いアヒル柄、もう一つは小さな宇宙船の柄。

Después del desayuno, Najimi anunció: “¡Hoy es el Día Oficial de los Calcetines Desparejados! ¡Quien tenga el par más divertido elige la película de esta noche!”
Komehyo parecía confundido. “Pero… yo solo tengo calcetines iguales.”
Najimi sonrió, agitando en el aire dos calcetines totalmente distintos: uno con patitos amarillos y otro con pequeñas naves espaciales.
I checked my drawer and came back with two socks—one was blue with polka dots, the other was plain gray. “This is all I’ve got,” I said, a bit embarrassed.
Najimi giggled. “Classic! Ak, you might be a secret fashion genius.”
Komehyo looked at his own feet, then disappeared into his room.

僕は自分の引き出しを探して、青い水玉の靴下と無地のグレーの靴下を持ってきた。「これしかないよ」と少し恥ずかしそうに言う。
ナジミはクスクス笑った。「さすがアク！ひそかなファッションリーダーかも」
コメヒョは自分の足元を見てから、自分の部屋へ消えていった。

Busqué en mi cajón y volví con dos calcetines: uno azul con lunares y otro gris liso. “Es lo único que tengo”, dije, algo avergonzado.
Najimi se rió. “¡Clásico! Ak, quizá seas un genio de la moda en secreto.”
Komehyo miró sus propios pies y luego desapareció en su cuarto.
A few minutes later, Komehyo reappeared. He was wearing one striped sock and one with mathematical formulas. “I found these. My aunt gave them to me, but I never wore them together.”
Najimi clapped. “That’s pure logic meets chaos!”
We lined up for judging. Najimi took her time, looking very serious.

数分後、コメヒョが戻ってきた。片方はストライプ、もう片方は数式が描かれた靴下だ。「これ見つけた。おばさんにもらったけど、一緒に履いたことはなかった」
ナジミは拍手。「ロジックとカオスの融合だ！」
三人で並んで審査タイム。ナジミは妙に真剣な表情。

Unos minutos después, Komehyo reapareció. Llevaba un calcetín a rayas y otro con fórmulas matemáticas. “Encontré estos. Mi tía me los regaló, pero nunca los usé juntos.”
Najimi aplaudió. “¡Eso es lógica pura mezclada con caos!”
Nos pusimos en fila para el concurso. Najimi se tomó su tiempo, muy seria.
In the end, Najimi declared, “The winner is… Komehyo! Because he found a way to combine math and stripes. That’s true creativity.”
Komehyo blinked, surprised. “Does that mean I get to pick the movie?”
Najimi nodded. “Yep! But it has to have at least one robot.”

そして、ナジミが発表した。「優勝は…コメヒョ！数学とストライプの組み合わせはクリエイティブだから」
コメヒョはびっくりした顔。「ってことは映画を選んでいいの？」
ナジミはうなずく。「もちろん！でもロボットが出てくる映画限定ね」

Al final, Najimi declaró: “El ganador es… ¡Komehyo! Porque logró combinar matemáticas y rayas. Eso sí es creatividad.”
Komehyo parpadeó, sorprendido. “¿Eso significa que yo elijo la película?”
Najimi asintió. “¡Sí! Pero tiene que tener al menos un robot.”
That evening, we watched an old sci-fi movie about robot detectives and laughed at the silly special effects. But the real fun was in our mismatched socks, and the feeling that, with these friends, every day could be something worth remembering.

Esa noche, vimos una vieja película de ciencia ficción sobre detectives robot y nos reímos de los efectos especiales ridículos. Pero la verdadera diversión estaba en nuestros calcetines desparejados, y en la sensación de que, con estos amigos, cada día podía ser digno de recordar.
