We stood at the top of the hidden staircase, our flashlights trembling in our hands. The air grew colder as we descended, every step echoing through the darkness. Komehyo tried to lighten the mood. “Maybe there’s a secret cake factory down here.”

Nos quedamos al pie de la escalera oculta, las linternas temblando en nuestras manos. El aire se volvía más frío mientras bajábamos, y cada paso resonaba en la oscuridad. Komehyo intentó aliviar el ambiente. “Quizá abajo haya una fábrica secreta de pasteles.”
Sora laughed softly, but even his voice sounded small. At the bottom, we found a heavy wooden door. Symbols like the ones from the wall glowed faintly in the beam of our flashlights.

Yuki placed her hand on the door. “This is it—the heart of Puzzle House. Are you ready?”
We all nodded, and together we pushed the door open.

Inside was a vast circular chamber, lined with mirrors and covered in symbols old and new. In the center stood a pedestal with an empty book, its pages waiting to be filled.

Tsubame whispered, “Maybe it’s our turn to write the next chapter.” The mirrors reflected not just us, but faint shadows—images of those who had come before, watching and waiting.
