Story (CEFR: B1 English)
A few days after Yuki arrived, autumn deepened. We found ourselves gathering around the living room more, sharing cocoa and ghost stories as the wind whistled outside. But a new mystery soon appeared, almost by accident.

Unos días después de la llegada de Yuki, el otoño se hizo más intenso. Nos reuníamos más seguido en la sala, compartiendo cacao y cuentos de fantasmas mientras el viento silbaba afuera. Pero pronto apareció un nuevo misterio, casi por accidente.
Tsubame was looking for a pen in the desk when she pulled open a drawer and found it locked tight. “Strange… I thought we’d checked every drawer already.”
Komehyo’s eyes sparkled. “Another puzzle! Is it new, or did we just miss it?”

Tsubame buscaba un bolígrafo en el escritorio cuando abrió un cajón y lo encontró bien cerrado con llave. “Qué raro… Creía que ya habíamos revisado todos los cajones.”
Los ojos de Komehyo brillaron. “¡Otro acertijo! ¿Es nuevo o solo lo pasamos por alto?”
Sora tried a few old keys, but none fit. Najimi suggested, “Maybe there’s a clue hidden somewhere.”
Miiro and I searched the bookshelf, while Yuki silently watched, her gaze flickering between the drawer and the rest of us.

Miiro y yo revisamos la estantería, mientras Yuki miraba en silencio, su mirada alternando entre el cajón y nosotros.
After a while, Yuki quietly spoke. “Sometimes… the best place to hide a key is where no one would ever look.”
Everyone turned to her in surprise. She just smiled and added, “Try the flower vase.”

We checked the vase—and there, taped to the bottom, was a tiny silver key. The drawer opened with a soft click, revealing a single, folded photograph inside. Its edges were worn, but the image was clear: a group of friends long ago, standing in front of Puzzle House. In the corner, someone had written: “To new beginnings—never alone.”

Revisamos el florero—y allí, pegada al fondo, había una pequeña llave plateada. El cajón se abrió con un suave clic, revelando una sola foto doblada. Sus bordes estaban gastados, pero la imagen era clara: un grupo de amigos, hace mucho tiempo, frente a la Casa Puzzle. En la esquina, alguien había escrito: “Para nuevos comienzos—nunca solos.”
We all fell silent, holding the photograph. It felt like a message across time—another secret, another promise, waiting for us to discover its meaning.
