As evening fell, we searched the house, shining flashlights on every wall and window. Sora suggested, “Maybe it’s not inside. What if the ‘moonlit door’ is outside?”

Al caer la tarde, registramos la casa, iluminando paredes y ventanas con linternas. Sora sugirió: “Quizá no esté adentro. ¿Y si la ‘puerta iluminada por la luna’ está afuera?”
We hurried into the garden. The moon had just risen, pale and full. Its light fell on an old stone wall covered in ivy. Suddenly, a faint outline of a door appeared where the moonlight struck.

Salimos al jardín. La luna acababa de salir, pálida y llena. Su luz caía sobre un viejo muro de piedra cubierto de hiedra. De pronto, donde daba la luz de la luna, apareció el contorno tenue de una puerta.
Tsubame gasped. “That’s it! The door only shows up under the moon!”
Komehyo pulled out the silver key. “Let’s see if this works.”

With trembling hands, I slid the key into an invisible lock. There was a click, and the outline of the door glowed brighter. Slowly, the stone swung open, revealing a hidden staircase leading down.
