Story (CEFR: B1 English)
The hidden staircase creaked beneath our feet as we descended. Shadows danced on the stone walls, and the sound of our footsteps echoed in the darkness. Miiro gripped Najimi’s sleeve, and I could feel my own heart pounding.

La escalera oculta crujía bajo nuestros pies mientras bajábamos. Las sombras bailaban sobre las paredes de piedra, y el sonido de nuestros pasos retumbaba en la oscuridad. Miiro se agarró de la manga de Najimi, y yo sentía mi propio corazón latiendo fuerte.
At the bottom, we found a large stone room lit by a single dusty window. In the center was an old wooden table with strange symbols carved into it. On the table sat a metal box and a faded piece of paper.

Al llegar al fondo, encontramos una sala grande de piedra iluminada por una sola ventana polvorienta. En el centro había una mesa de madera vieja con símbolos extraños tallados. Sobre la mesa había una caja de metal y un trozo de papel descolorido.
Komehyo read the note aloud: “Only those who truly trust each other may open the box. Say something honest to each other before you try.”
Najimi looked at us, grinning. “Well, this will be interesting!”

Najimi nos miró, sonriendo. “¡Esto será interesante!”
One by one, we shared a secret or something we’d never said out loud. Miiro confessed she’d always wanted friends like us. Najimi admitted she sometimes acted brave but was really scared of the dark. Komehyo said he trusted us more than anyone he’d ever known. I told them I was afraid of being left alone, but with them, I felt at home.

Najimi admitió que a veces fingía ser valiente, pero realmente le daba miedo la oscuridad. Komehyo dijo que confiaba en nosotros más que en nadie. Yo les confesé que temía quedarme solo, pero con ellos me sentía en casa.
The box clicked and opened by itself. Inside was a glass marble that shone in all the colors of the rainbow. Another note read, “With trust, you have found the heart of Puzzle House.”
