The next day, breakfast came with a twist. Najimi, wearing her “chef’s hat” (actually a sock), presented us with a new invention: “Mystery Pancakes.”
“Whoever guesses the secret ingredient wins the first clue today!” she announced, setting a steaming stack in front of us.

Komehyo took a cautious bite. “There’s a hint of… orange?”
Najimi shook her head. “Nope! Try again.”
I tasted mine. “Is it… ginger?”
Najimi grinned wider. “Getting warmer!”

After several wild guesses—curry powder, lavender, and even cola—Komehyo finally exclaimed, “Carrot!”
Najimi clapped. “Correct! Carrot and a pinch of cinnamon. Komehyo, you get the clue!”
She handed him a folded note with today’s puzzle.

Komehyo read it aloud: “If you seek the next answer, search where books and silence meet.”
Najimi jumped up. “The library!”
I nodded, already picturing the rows of books and quiet corners.

As we hurried to the library, I realized how the little mysteries and silly games were drawing us closer together. Even a breakfast challenge felt like the start of a new adventure.
