Saturday morning arrived with the smell of syrup and ambition. Najimi burst into the kitchen in a chef’s hat three sizes too big. “Announcement!” she declared. “Today is the first annual Puzzle House Pancake Showdown! Winner gets to pick movie night AND name Komehyo’s next invention.” Ak groaned, remembering last year’s “Spaghetti Tower Incident.” Rikka, always curious, perked up. “What are the rules?” Najimi grinned. “Three rounds: Classic, Creative, and Mystery Ingredient. Judged by taste, style, and presentation. Loser does the dishes for a week!” Komehyo adjusted his lab coat. “Science is ready.”

La mañana del sábado llegó con olor a jarabe y ambición. Najimi entró en la cocina con un gorro de chef tres tallas grande. “¡Atención!” declaró. “¡Hoy es la primera gran competencia de panqueques de la Casa Puzzle! El ganador elige la película de la noche Y el nombre del próximo invento de Komehyo.” Ak se lamentó, recordando el “incidente de la torre de espaguetis” del año pasado. Rikka, siempre curiosa, preguntó: “¿Cuáles son las reglas?” Najimi sonrió. “Tres rondas: Clásico, Creativo e Ingrediente Misterioso. Se juzga sabor, estilo y presentación. ¡El perdedor lava los platos una semana!” Komehyo ajustó su bata de laboratorio. “La ciencia está lista.”
The Classic Round began. Ak played it safe with fluffy pancakes and honey. Najimi added sprinkles and drew a smiley face in chocolate. Rikka made tiny pancakes shaped like cats. Komehyo used his Rainmaker 3000 to drizzle “precision syrup” in geometric patterns. Judging was fierce, with each contestant sneaking tastes and debating syrup viscosity. Ak won by a single point for “best texture.”

Komehyo usó su Rainmaker 3000 para verter jarabe en patrones geométricos. La competencia fue feroz; cada participante probó a escondidas y debatió sobre la viscosidad del jarabe. Ak ganó por un punto por “mejor textura”.
In the Creative Round, things got wilder. Najimi’s “Volcano Pancake” erupted with strawberry sauce. Ak stacked a “Pancake Tower” that leaned dangerously. Komehyo presented a pancake “periodic table,” labeling each square with syrup. Rikka crafted a pancake landscape: tiny trees, clouds of whipped cream, a river of blueberry jam. Najimi took the round for “most dramatic breakfast.”

En la ronda creativa todo se volvió más loco. El “panqueque volcán” de Najimi erupcionó con salsa de fresa. Ak apiló una “torre de panqueques” peligrosamente inclinada. Komehyo presentó una “tabla periódica” de panqueques, con cada cuadrado etiquetado con jarabe. Rikka hizo un paisaje de panqueques: pequeños árboles, nubes de crema batida y un río de mermelada de arándanos. Najimi ganó la ronda por “el desayuno más dramático”.
Then came the Mystery Ingredient Round. Komehyo spun a wheel: wasabi, pickles, marshmallows, seaweed. Groans and nervous laughter. Rikka bravely selected wasabi, blending just enough for a “kick.” Najimi, undaunted, combined pickles and marshmallows. Ak tried seaweed and honey—better than expected. Komehyo, true to form, analyzed all four for “synergy potential.” After much tasting, debate, and accidental sneezing (thanks to wasabi), the winner was… Rikka, for her “surprisingly edible innovation.”

Llegó la ronda del ingrediente misterioso. Komehyo giró la ruleta: wasabi, pepinillos, malvaviscos, alga marina. Quejidos y risas nerviosas. Rikka eligió wasabi y lo mezcló cuidadosamente. Najimi, sin miedo, combinó pepinillos y malvaviscos. Ak probó alga marina con miel—mejor de lo esperado. Komehyo, fiel a su estilo, analizó las cuatro para “potencial sinérgico”. Después de probar, debatir y estornudos (gracias al wasabi), la ganadora fue… Rikka, por su “innovación sorprendentemente comestible”.
Najimi draped Rikka with the “Pancake Crown” (a paper chef hat with syrup stains). Everyone cheered. Ak muttered, “At least it wasn’t the Spaghetti Tower again.” Komehyo began sketching blueprints for a “self-cleaning griddle” as punishment loomed. That night, Puzzle House was filled with laughter and the scent of pancakes—another strange, perfect memory for the club.
