Story (CEFR: B1 English)
Monday morning finds Hana unusually quiet. Instead of her usual jokes, she sits at the table with a huge blank canvas, staring out the window as sunlight and leftover raindrops paint rainbows on the wall.

El lunes por la mañana, Hana está inusualmente callada. En vez de sus bromas habituales, se sienta a la mesa con un enorme lienzo en blanco, mirando por la ventana mientras la luz del sol y las gotas de lluvia forman arcoíris en la pared.

Najimi is the first to notice. “Hana, what’s up? Out of paint? Or just out of pancakes?” Komehyo waves a spatula, Makoto offers a cup of tea, and Kumi silently hands over a set of bright markers.

Hana smiles, a little embarrassed. “I want to paint something… big. Not just us. I want to capture what makes our mornings special. But I don’t know where to start.”

Inspired, Hana grabs a brush and starts to paint: golden light, a mountain of pancakes, a river of books, bright ducks, and—at the center—six mugs raised in a toast. Everyone adds a little detail: a doodle, a riddle, a favorite color. The canvas becomes a patchwork of friendship.

Inspirada, Hana toma un pincel y empieza a pintar: luz dorada, una montaña de panqueques, un río de libros, patitos brillantes y—en el centro—seis tazas alzadas en un brindis. Todos agregan un pequeño detalle: un garabato, un acertijo, un color favorito. El lienzo se convierte en un mosaico de amistad.

When it’s finished, Hana sits back, cheeks flushed with pride. “I think… this is what home looks like.” We all agree. In that moment, surrounded by color and friends, our mornings feel brighter than ever.
