English Story (CEFR: B2)
The underground facility was hidden beneath a collapsed monorail station. They found it by following faint traces of radiation—resonance energy leaking from deep below.
Lin crouched near the entrance, brushing aside frozen debris. “There’s a biometric lock. But it’s… cracked. Almost like someone forced it open from the inside.”
Rai looked down at the panel. It sparked weakly when he touched it, then blinked once—green. The door creaked open.
“Looks like it remembers you,” Mori muttered.
The corridor beyond was lit by dim emergency lights. Frost covered the walls, but strange, glowing wires pulsed beneath the surface like veins.
“What was this place?” Lin asked softly.
“A vault,” Rai answered, voice distant. “To store memory... and something more.”
As they moved deeper, they passed shattered lab rooms, data banks frozen mid-access, and shattered glass cases. Symbols like the seal glowed faintly from the floors and ceilings.
Then, they reached a chamber—circular, with a control panel in the center. And there, lying on a stone pedestal, was the pendant.
Rai stepped forward, heart racing. He touched it gently. The metal was cold, but his vision burst into color and sound.
He saw her clearly now—standing in this very room. Her voice rang out, strong and clear.
“My name is Aira. If you’re watching this, it means you came back. And you don’t remember yet. But you will.”
The hologram shimmered. Aira continued, “You weren’t just part of the program. You were the core. You made the jump to save me.”
Rai’s knees gave out. Lin caught him, helping him sit.
“Aira… her name is Aira…” he whispered, eyes wide.
“And she’s real,” Lin said. “Not just in your memory.”
“She’s alive,” Rai said, voice trembling. “And I left her behind in a burning future.”
Above them, the facility lights flickered—and for a brief moment, a distant alarm echoed through the chamber. The Faction had found their trail.
“We have to move,” Mori said. “They’ll be here soon.”
But Rai stayed still, holding the pendant tightly. “I know who I am now,” he said. “And I know why I came here.”
“To save her?” Lin asked.
Rai nodded. “And to stop what’s coming.”

「保管庫だ」ライが遠い目で答えた。「記憶を…それ以上のものを保管するための。」
奥へと進むと、壊れた実験室、アクセス途中で凍りついたデータバンク、割れたガラスケースが現れた。床や天井には、例のシールと同じような紋章が淡く光っていた。
やがて彼らは円形の部屋にたどり着いた。中央には操作パネル、そしてその奥――石の台座の上に、それはあった。
あのペンダントだ。
ライはゆっくりと近づき、鼓動が高鳴るのを感じながら手を伸ばした。冷たい金属に触れた瞬間、視界が鮮やかな光と音に包まれた。
彼女の姿がはっきりと映った――この部屋に立ち、彼に語りかけていた。
「私の名前はアイラ。これを見てるってことは、あなたは戻ってきた。でもまだ思い出していない。でも、必ず思い出す。」
ホログラムが揺らめく。アイラは続けた。「あなたはただの被験者じゃない。コアだった。私を救うためにジャンプしたの。」
ライは崩れるように膝をついた。リンが急いで支える。
「アイラ…彼女の名前はアイラ…」ライは呟いた。目は大きく見開かれていた。
「本当にいたんだ」リンが言った。「ただの記憶じゃない。」
「彼女は生きてる」ライは震える声で言った。「燃え上がる未来に…俺は彼女を残してきたんだ。」
その時、頭上の照明がちらつき、遠くで警報が響いた。ファクションが、彼らの痕跡を見つけたのだ。
「急ぐぞ」森が言った。「すぐ来る。」
だがライは動かない。ペンダントを強く握りしめながら言った。「もう自分が誰かわかる。なぜここに来たのかも。」
「彼女を救うため？」リンが尋ねる。
ライはうなずいた。「そして、これから起きることを止めるために。」
