English Story (CEFR: B2)
Snow fell gently as the three of them moved through the pine forest. The battle at the observatory already felt like a distant memory, swallowed by the silence of the woods.
“We need shelter,” Mori said. “There’s a ranger station up ahead. I used it years ago.”
“Used it? As what?” Lin asked.
Mori didn’t answer. His eyes stayed forward, unblinking.
Rai noticed the way Mori walked—like someone who knew this path too well. “You were military?” he asked.
“I was... more like a clean-up crew,” Mori replied. “We didn’t ask questions. We erased problems.”
“Were we a problem?” Rai asked softly.
Mori didn’t respond, but his silence said enough.
They reached the ranger station before dark. It was old but intact. A single room, a fireplace, and a radio—dusty but functional.
As night fell, Lin sat by the fire, holding her arm. The mark glowed faintly.
“Something’s different,” she said. “Since we used our powers... it’s like my core is changing.”
Rai sat across from her, rubbing his own arm. “Mine too. When you froze time... I felt something resonate inside me.”
“It’s not just coincidence,” Lin said. “They designed us to be... connected.”
Mori, leaning against the door, finally spoke. “They wanted synchronized weapons. Living code. You weren’t just sent back. You were programmed to evolve—together.”
Rai looked up. “You knew this?”
Mori’s gaze didn’t waver. “I knew... parts. Not this much.”
Silence returned. Outside, the wind howled again. Inside, the fire crackled, and between the flickers of flame, their cores pulsed in tandem—faint echoes of something far more powerful to come.

日が暮れる前に、彼らは管理小屋にたどり着いた。古かったが、壊れてはいなかった。部屋が一つ、暖炉と、埃をかぶった無線機があった。
夜になると、リンは暖炉のそばで腕を抱えながら座っていた。彼女のマークが、かすかに光を放っていた。
「何かが変わってる」リンが言った。「あの力を使ってから…コアそのものが変質してる気がする。」
ライは向かい側に座り、自分の腕をさすりながら言った。「俺もだ。君が時間を止めた時、中から何かが共鳴した。」
「偶然じゃないわ」リンが静かに言う。「私たちは…最初から“つながるよう”に設計されてた。」
ドアにもたれていた森が、ようやく口を開いた。「奴らは“同期型兵器”を望んでた。生きたコード。お前らはただ送り込まれたわけじゃない。共に進化するようプログラムされてたんだ。」
ライが顔を上げる。「それを…知ってたのか？」
森の視線は揺れなかった。「一部は、な。でも、ここまでとは思ってなかった。」
再び沈黙が戻った。外では風が遠吠えを上げ、内側では炎がパチパチと音を立てていた。その火のゆらめきの中で、2人の“コア”がかすかに同時に脈動する。まるで、これから目覚めようとする、より大きな力の“前触れ”のように。
