English Story (CEFR: A1)
Today is the kindergarten show. Hana wakes up early. She feels excited but also a little scared.
"You can do it," her mother says. "Just smile and try your best."
At kindergarten, the classroom is full of parents. There are chairs, cameras, and big smiles.
"I’m nervous," Hana whispers to Yuki.
"Me too," says Yuki. "But we practiced a lot!"
The teacher says, "Okay, everyone! Time to get ready!"
Hana puts on a pink dress. She is a flower in the play. Yuki is a butterfly. Emi is the sun.
They wait behind the curtain. Hana’s heart beats fast.
The music starts. The curtain opens. Lights shine. The children step on stage.
Hana sees her mother in the front row. Her mother waves and smiles. Hana feels a little braver.
"Good morning, everyone!" says Emi. "We are the garden!"
Hana walks to the middle. "I am a flower. I wake up with the sun," she says clearly.
The audience claps. Hana smiles big.
Yuki twirls like a butterfly. Emi spreads her arms like the sun. The music is soft and pretty.
At the end, all the children sing a song together. Hana sings loud and proud.
"Thank you for watching!" they say together and bow.
After the show, Hana runs to her mother. "Did you see me?"
"Yes! You were wonderful," her mother says and hugs her tight.
Hana feels happy and proud. "I want to be in another play someday!"

今日は幼稚園の発表会です。ハナは朝早く目を覚ましました。ワクワクしているけど、少しドキドキもしています。

幼稚園に行くと、教室にはたくさんの保護者がいます。イスが並び、カメラを持ったお父さんお母さんがニコニコしています。
「なんだかこわいね」とハナがユキにささやきました。
「うん、でもいっぱい練習したから大丈夫だよ」とユキが言います。
先生が言いました。「さあ、みんな準備しましょう！」
ハナはピンクのドレスを着ました。劇の中でお花の役です。ユキはちょうちょ、エミはおひさまの役です。
カーテンの後ろで出番を待ちます。ハナの心臓がドキドキしていました。
音楽が流れ、カーテンが開きました。ライトがまぶしく光ります。子どもたちはステージに出ました。
ハナは前の席に座っているお母さんを見つけました。お母さんが手を振って、にっこり笑っています。ハナはちょっと元気が出ました。
「みなさん、おはようございます！」とエミが言いました。「わたしたちは、おにわです！」
ハナはステージのまんなかに歩いて行き、「わたしはおはな。おひさまで目をさまします」とはっきり言いました。
お客さんが拍手します。ハナはうれしくなって、にっこり笑いました。
ユキはちょうちょのようにクルクルまわります。エミは両手を大きく広げて、おひさまのようです。音楽はやさしく、きれいでした。
さいごに、みんなで歌をうたいます。ハナは大きな声で、じまんげに歌いました。
「みてくれてありがとう！」と全員で言って、おじぎをしました。
発表会が終わると、ハナはお母さんのところに走っていきました。「わたし、ちゃんとできた？」
「うん！とっても上手だったよ」とお母さんが言って、ぎゅっと抱きしめました。
ハナはうれしくなって、自分がちょっとだけ大きくなった気がしました。「またこんども、お芝居したいな！」
