English Story (CEFR: A1)
Today is a special day. Hana is going on her first school trip. She wakes up early and puts on her favorite yellow hat.
"Do you have everything?" her mother asks.
"Yes! Water bottle, towel, lunch box!" Hana smiles.
At kindergarten, all the children are excited. The teacher says, "Let’s go to the zoo!"
The children get on the big blue bus. Hana sits next to Yuki. Emi sits in front of them.
"I want to see the giraffes!" says Hana.
"I like lions," says Yuki.
At the zoo, the children walk in a line. The teacher gives them a map. "Stay with your group," she says.
First, they see elephants. They are big and slow. "Wow, look at their ears!" says Emi.
Next, they see penguins. "They walk funny!" laughs Yuki.
Then they go to the giraffe area. Hana looks up. "So tall!" she says. One giraffe comes close to the fence.
"Hello, Mr. Giraffe!" says Hana.
At noon, the class sits on a big sheet under a tree. It’s lunchtime!
Hana opens her lunch box. "I have panda rice balls!"
Yuki has star-shaped sandwiches. Emi has fruit in heart cups.
"Let’s share!" says Hana. They swap bites and smile.
After lunch, they draw pictures of their favorite animal. Hana draws a giraffe with a long neck and spots.
At the end of the day, the children get back on the bus. They are tired but happy.
"What was your favorite part?" asks the teacher.
"The giraffe!" says Hana. "And lunch with friends!"
When Hana gets home, she hugs her mother. "Today was the best day ever!"

今日は特別な日です。ハナははじめての遠足に行きます。朝早く起きて、お気に入りの黄色い帽子をかぶりました。
「忘れ物ない？」とお母さんが聞きます。
「うん！水とう、タオル、おべんとうもあるよ！」とハナはにっこり笑いました。
幼稚園に着くと、子どもたちはみんなワクワクしています。先生が言いました。「今日は動物園に行きますよ！」
子どもたちは大きな青いバスに乗りました。ハナはユキのとなりに座ります。エミはその前に座りました。
「キリンが見たいな！」とハナが言いました。
「わたしはライオンが好き」とユキが言いました。
動物園に着くと、子どもたちは列になって歩きました。先生が地図をくれて、「グループで行動しましょうね」と言いました。
最初に見たのはゾウです。大きくて、のんびり歩いています。「わあ、耳がおっきい！」とエミが言いました。
次はペンギンです。「あるき方がへんでおもしろい！」とユキが笑いました。
それからキリンのところへ行きました。ハナは上を見上げます。「すごく背が高い！」
一頭のキリンがフェンスの近くに来ました。
「こんにちは、キリンさん！」とハナが言いました。
お昼になると、みんな木の下で大きなレジャーシートに座りました。お弁当の時間です！
ハナはお弁当を開けて、「パンダのおにぎりだよ！」と言いました。
ユキは星型のサンドイッチ、エミはハートのカップに入ったフルーツです。
「少しずつ分けっこしよう！」とハナが言いました。みんなでちょっとずつ交換して、笑顔になりました。
お昼のあと、自分の好きな動物の絵を描きました。ハナは、首が長くて、まだら模様のキリンを描きました。
1日の終わり、子どもたちはバスに乗って帰ります。ちょっとつかれたけど、みんなニコニコです。
「何が一番楽しかった？」と先生が聞きました。
「キリンです！」とハナ。「それと、友だちと食べたお弁当！」
家に帰ると、ハナはお母さんにぎゅっと抱きつきました。「今日、すっごく楽しかった！」
