English Story (CEFR: A1)
“Hana, can you go to the store?” asks Mom.
Hana looks up. “Me? Alone?”
Mom smiles. “Yes. Just one thing. Please buy some milk.”
Hana takes a coin purse and a shopping bag.
She walks down the street. Her heart beats fast.
“I can do this,” she says softly.
At the corner store, she sees the milk. It’s on the low shelf.
She picks it up carefully and goes to the counter.
“One milk, please,” she says.
The shopkeeper smiles. “Here you go! That’s 150 yen.”
Hana counts the money slowly. “100, 50... Here!”
“Perfect,” says the shopkeeper. “Good job!”
Hana walks home with the milk in her bag.
“I did it!” she says, smiling.
At home, she gives the milk to Mom.
“Thank you, Hana! You’re growing up,” says Mom.
Hana feels proud. “Next time, I’ll buy eggs too!”

ハナは顔をあげて、「わたしが？ひとりで？」
ママはにっこり。「うん。ミルクをひとつだけ、買ってきてほしいの」
ハナは小さいおさいふと買い物バッグを持ちました。
ドキドキしながら道を歩きます。
「わたし、できるもん」と小さくつぶやきました。
小さな店に着くと、ミルクは下の棚にありました。
そっと手に取って、レジへ向かいます。
「ミルクひとつください」とハナ。

ハナはゆっくりお金を数えます。「100円、50円…はい！」
「ばっちり！よくできたね」とお店の人。
帰り道、ハナはミルクをバッグに入れて歩きました。
「やった！」とにっこり。
家に帰って、ママにミルクを渡しました。
「ありがとう、ハナ。お姉さんになったね」とママ。
ハナはちょっぴり自信顔。「つぎは、たまごも買ってくるよ！」
