The next morning, Kazuki awoke to the gentle chime of a bell and the aroma of herbs simmering in a pot. Mira greeted him with a bright smile. “Today, the council wants to see you.” As they set out for the village, Kazuki marveled at the world’s surreal beauty: crystal streams ran beside the path, dragonflies the size of sparrows hovered above water, and children played with floating lights that responded to their laughter.
