Kazuki’s memories of his old life were fading, but the feeling of falling—endless, silent—remained vivid. When he finally opened his eyes, he found himself lying in a dew-soaked field under a sky the color of fresh jade. Birds with golden feathers sang unfamiliar melodies overhead. He sat up, disoriented, and realized he was wearing a robe embroidered with symbols he could not read.
