私は司馬懿、字は仲達、河内温県の出身である。若き頃より才知に優れ、あらゆる書を読み漁り、特に兵法や陰陽の学に通じていた。曹操が私を召し抱えようとしたが、私は病を理由に辞退した。仕官を望まなかったわけではない。まだ時機が熟していなかったのだ。乱世においては、早くに名を上げる者は倒れやすく、身を隠して力を蓄える者こそ長く生き残る。私の志は、一時の栄光にあらず。

I am Sima Yi, courtesy name Zhongda, from Wen County in Henei. As a youth, I was known for my intelligence and mastery of many texts, especially military strategy and yin-yang philosophy. When Cao Cao summoned me to serve, I declined, citing illness. It was not that I refused to serve, but rather that the time was not yet right. In chaotic times, those who rise too quickly fall just as fast. Those who hide their strength endure. My ambition was never for momentary glory.

Desde joven fui conocido por mi inteligencia y mi dominio de muchos textos, especialmente sobre estrategia militar y filosofía del yin y yang. Cuando Cao Cao me llamó al servicio, rechacé, alegando enfermedad. No era que no quisiera servir, sino que el momento aún no había llegado. En tiempos de caos, los que ascienden rápido caen pronto. Los que ocultan su fuerza sobreviven más. Mi ambición no era por la gloria pasajera.

その後、私はついに曹操のもとで仕官し、彼の子・曹丕の即位を補佐した。曹丕は私を信頼し、重責を任せてくれた。私は政治を厳しく治め、決断は迅速で、民や臣下の信望を得た。しかし、私はよく知っていた。賢君はいつまでも続かず、忠臣であっても常に安泰ではないと。だから私は外面は謙遜に、内面には策略を秘めていた。主君が明君であれば、臣下はすべてを語らずとも良い。人の心の闇は、戦場の危険よりも深い。

Later, I eventually entered Cao Cao’s service and helped his son, Cao Pi, ascend the throne. Cao Pi trusted me and entrusted me with great responsibilities. I governed with strict discipline and swift judgment, gaining respect. Yet I knew well—wise rulers do not last forever, and even loyal ministers are not always safe. Therefore, I appeared humble, while hiding strategy within. A ruler may be wise, but a minister must not speak all his mind. The human heart is more treacherous than the battlefield.

Con el tiempo, entré al servicio de Cao Cao y ayudé a su hijo Cao Pi a ascender al trono. Cao Pi confiaba en mí y me dio grandes responsabilidades. Goberné con disciplina estricta y decisiones rápidas, ganando el respeto de muchos. Pero sabía que los gobernantes sabios no duran para siempre, y los ministros leales tampoco están siempre seguros. Por eso, mostraba humildad por fuera, pero guardaba estrategia por dentro. Un soberano puede ser sabio, pero un ministro no debe decir todo lo que piensa. El corazón humano es más peligroso que cualquier campo de batalla.

私は諸葛亮と祁山や渭南で幾度も戦った。彼の策略は深く、まさに海の如し。心から敬意を抱いていた。しかし、彼はあまりにも剛直であり、ついには過労で命を落とした。私は彼に対し、動かずに動を制するという態度を貫き、その鋭さを避け、変化の中に勝機を見出していた。人々は私を臆病と笑ったが、私は知っていた。勝敗を決するのは一時の勇ではなく、大局を見通す智謀なのである。

I clashed with Zhuge Liang several times at Qishan and Weinan. His strategies were as deep as the sea, and I truly respected him. Yet he was too rigid, and in the end, died from overwork. I responded with stillness against movement, avoiding his edge and watching for change. People mocked me as cowardly, but I knew that victory does not lie in momentary bravery, but in strategy that sees the whole board.

Luché contra Zhuge Liang varias veces en Qishan y Weinan. Sus estrategias eran tan profundas como el mar, y le tenía un gran respeto. 晩年、私は魏の政権を掌握した。高平陵の政変において、私は兵を挙げて曹爽を誅し、一挙に朝廷の乱れを正した。人々は私を「権力を奪った者」と批判する者もいれば、「奸臣を排除した英雄」と称える者もいた。だが、功罪の評価などは、後世に委ねればよい。私は司馬懿、屈辱に耐えながらも重責を背負い、ただ天下の平穏を願って生きてきた。この人生に勝敗を問われたとしても、私はただ穏やかに微笑むだけだ。志を貫けた、それで十分である。

In my later years, I came to hold supreme power in Wei. During the Coup of Gaoping Tombs, I raised troops and executed Cao Shuang, restoring order to the court. Some say I usurped power; others praise me for removing a traitor. But right or wrong, let history decide. I, Sima Yi, endured humiliation and bore heavy burdens, all for peace under heaven. If you ask whether I succeeded or failed, I will only smile calmly: I stayed true to my purpose—that is enough.

En mis últimos años, llegué a tener el poder supremo en Wei. Durante el golpe de Gaoping, levanté tropas y ejecuté a Cao Shuang, restaurando el orden en la corte. Algunos me llaman usurpador, otros me elogian por eliminar a un traidor. Pero el juicio sobre mis actos pertenece a la historia.
