Story (CEFR: B2 Spanish)
Durante el día, mi vida parecía tan gris como el cielo nublado de Tokio. Me llamo Akú. Soy un estudiante de secundaria, completamente normal… o al menos, así lo parecía ante los demás. Las horas en clase pasaban lentamente, las conversaciones eran superficiales, y el reflejo de mi rostro en la ventana del aula siempre parecía vacío, como si solo fuera un espectador de la vida real. English Translation
During the day, my life felt as gray as the cloudy Tokyo sky. My name is Aku. I’m a junior high school student, totally normal—or at least, that’s how others saw me. The hours in class passed slowly, conversations were shallow, and my reflection in the classroom window always looked empty, like I was just a spectator in real life. Routine weighed me down: wake up, go to school, try not to stand out, come home, study a bit, eat dinner, sleep. But there was something neither my family nor my classmates knew. Every night, when I closed my eyes, I stopped being that bland boy: I became a hero, in a world of dreams.

English Translation
In my dreams, I was invincible. I fought shadow monsters, flew above cities with twin moons, led armies of fantastic creatures, and people chanted my name: “Aku, the savior!” My best friend, Kumi, was there too. In real life, we barely spoke, but in dreams, she was my most loyal ally, brave and full of light. Together we defeated dragons, freed kingdoms, and saved innocents from impossible dangers. The gap between day Aku and night Aku was enormous.

Pero todo cambió la mañana del primer día de las vacaciones de verano. Cuando llegué a la estación, vi algo que me heló la sangre: una criatura gigantesca, con ojos rojos y cuerpo cubierto de escamas negras, se deslizaba entre los coches detenidos en un semáforo. Nadie más parecía notarla, aunque las luces parpadeaban y la temperatura bajó de golpe. Por un segundo pensé que seguía soñando, pero el miedo era demasiado real. Mi corazón latía con fuerza mientras retrocedía, tropezando con Kumi, quien acababa de llegar. Sus ojos estaban muy abiertos, y supe en ese instante que ella también podía verlo.

But everything changed on the first morning of summer vacation. When I arrived at the station, I saw something that made my blood run cold: a huge creature with red eyes and black scales sliding between the cars stopped at a traffic light. No one else seemed to notice, even as the lights flickered and the temperature suddenly dropped. For a moment I thought I was still dreaming, but the fear was too real. My heart pounded as I stumbled backward and bumped into Kumi, who had just arrived. Her eyes were wide open, and I knew at once that she could see it too.

El monstruo desapareció tan rápido como había aparecido, dejando tras de sí una niebla azulada y un silencio antinatural. Kumi y yo nos miramos sin palabras, sabiendo que solo nosotros éramos testigos de algo imposible. Esa noche, cuando me sumergí en mi mundo onírico, noté que algo había cambiado: los monstruos ya no solo existían allí. Había portales brillando en las calles de Tokio, y los paisajes de ambos mundos empezaban a fundirse. From that moment, the boundaries between reality and the dream world began to blur. The monster vanished as quickly as it appeared, leaving behind a bluish mist and an unnatural silence. Kumi and I looked at each other, wordless, knowing that only we had witnessed something impossible. That night, when I entered my dream world, I noticed something had changed: monsters were no longer confined to dreams. Portals now glowed in the streets of Tokyo, and the landscapes of both worlds began to merge. This was the beginning of our true adventure—a desperate quest to save both worlds and find the legendary item that, according to prophecy, can grant any wish if you defeat the Demon King.
