2-2: これらも前置詞不要！ today, yesterday, tomorrow たち
前回のレッスンでは、next, last, this, every が時間の名詞につくと前置詞が不要になることを見ましたね。 実は、それ以外にも前置詞なしで「いつ」を表せる重要な単語グループがあります。それが、today (今日), yesterday (昨日), tomorrow (明日), tonight (今夜) などです。
ルール：today, yesterday, tomorrow, tonight は単独で副詞になる！
これらの単語は、「今日」「昨日」「明日」「今夜」という名詞の意味だけでなく、「今日に」「昨日に」「明日に」「今夜に」という副詞としての働きも持っています。 そのため、通常、これらの語の前には at, on, in といった前置詞は付けません。
- on today （〇 今日）
- on yesterday （〇 昨日）
- on tomorrow （〇 明日）
- at tonight （〇 今夜）
なぜ不要？ これらの単語自体がすでに「いつ」という副詞的な情報をはっきりと示しているからです。
前置詞不要ゾーン！
today たちは特別！ 前置詞は必要ありません。

yesterday (昨日)
He called me yesterday afternoon.

Let's meet tomorrow morning.
明日の朝会いましょう。（morningが付いても前置詞不要）
The package will arrive tomorrow.
その荷物は明日到着します。
tonight (今夜)
Are you free tonight?
今夜、空いていますか？
We are having a party tonight.
私たちは今夜パーティーを開きます。
その他の前置詞不要表現
「一昨日」「明後日」なども同様に前置詞は不要です。
I met him the day before yesterday.
私は一昨日、彼に会いました。
She will leave the day after tomorrow.
彼女は明後日出発します。
注意点：on Monday morning との違い
yesterday morning や tomorrow afternoon のように today/yesterday/tomorrow に morning/afternoon/evening が付く場合も、通常は前置詞を付けません。
ただし、特定の曜日の朝/午後/晩 を言うときは on Monday morning のように on が必要になるので、区別しましょう (1-2参照)。
- I saw him yesterday morning. (昨日の朝 - 前置詞なし)
- I saw him on Monday morning. (月曜日の朝に - on が必要)
